Type your best guess at spelling a word into WildSpeller, press the return key, and a
list of words will appear. The list is sorted with the most common words first.
You can click Sort Alphabetically to sort the list thusly.
You can use wildcards * and ? to substitute for letters you aren't sure of. An * replaces any number of any characters, including none, and ? replaces any one character. If you don't include * or ?, WildSpeller shows words that sound like what you typed.
If you type newmoanya and press the Return key, one
of the displayed words is pneumonia.
In this case, no * or ? means WildSpeller lists words that
sound like what you typed.
Alternatively, if you type pneumonoul*, the list will be all words starting with pneumonoul followed by any number of any letters.
To copy a word to the clipboard use menu item Edit->Copy,
key combination Command+C or context menu item Copy.
Double-clicking a word will copy it also.
Checking the Use Large Dictionary checkbox will cause WildSpeller to
use a 527,000-word dictionary. This may result in many synonyms in the list,
possibly making it hard to find the word you want. The default
small dictionary has about 58,000 words.
To select a font for WildSpeller to use, click menu item
Edit→Change Font... and select an application-wide font
family, style, weight and point size. Your selection will be retained across
WildSpeller runs. (Change Font was moved to the Edit
menu because the View menu always has an
Enter Full Screen item.)
If an error occurs it is logged in file "/Users/<your name>/WildSpeller.log"
